Self esteem: Discover How Easy It is

A compact handbook of real-life stories—some humorous, some reflective, and some deeply moving—each revealing a powerful truth about who we are and how we’ve slowly lost touch with ourselves.

The author believes we are living in a confused era. From childhood, we’re often told that we are perfect “just as we are,” yet around us we see faith weakening, families struggling, and personal identity fading beneath the constant noise of modern life.

This book challenges the shiny, surface-level version of self-love. No empty motivation. No participation-trophy mindset.

Instead, it offers honest stories that guide you back to one simple message:

Reclaim yourself.

You’ll laugh, you’ll reflect, and you may even recognize parts of your own story within these pages. Most importantly, you’ll walk away seeing yourself—and the world—a little differently.

I really enjoyed this book - I read it as I was flying home from Denver, and actually laughed out loud a few times. The book immediately put me at ease, and drew me in with the mix of personal experiences and history right in the introduction; I was ready to read more. The author shares with you 4 main objectives of the book, and then proceeds to expound on those objectives with stories and examples that bring them to ife. Imagination and creativity can favorably impact our live, and when we have plans and purposes, a plan will unfold for us - as he says “A Miracle a Day.” His main points are to be able to laugh and learn from each of our experiences - even if it takes us several years to realize the lesson(s) learned. And remember through it all to use everything that God gives us.

Ron Millicent is a veteran I find myself relating to his experiences and thoughts that he lists in this gem of a book. He gives us clear explanations of his personal stories that for me, personally, are so familiar and understandable it plants a smile on my face as I am writing this review for his book here. Some of his exact words from this baby are: 1. “…To go through life knowing you have a purpose, and a path to follow, gives a whole dimension to self-growth.” 2. “When you explore a new idea, it is almost a certainty that you will gain new information and very possibly a new insight.” (This is true of my reading of this book. I have learned some valuable insights that I can use in my own way to hopefully gain self-confidence and self-growth.) 3. “God did not give us a “mind” to collect dust. It is only by using the mind that we can ponder the mysteries of life—and find that they inevitably lead to ‘Him.’” Aside from enduring words like those, Millicent’s touching story about his bout with a heart attack to which he used humor to lessen the stress and anxiety of his worried family waiting in the waiting room, to his precious pet dog Libby and how moving her passing was, to a ticket heirloom with a strong backstory he bequeathed to his grandson, Millicent’s book here will keep you reading on for more as you cry along as well as laugh along, indirectly noting to yourself that this man is quite a pioneer and a force who knows what he is talking about and that this book of his is such a useful companion to take along for reading on an airplane or a train. It made my spirit optimistic knowing that if he conquered those obstacles he is talking about then I can surely do so. I am going to keep this “masterpiece” on my list of “reads to read over and over for boosting the self” because hey! Take my word for it that you will enjoy reading it too because Millicent’s writing style is so concise and cheerful and positive you will read it in just one day! Also, there is a workbook at the back of this ebook that you can use for your introspection and reflection on his soothing journey in life. Yay!

Self-growth. In this book author explains about the self-growth. Experience is the best teacher and everyone starts learning about the life through their own experience. In this book, author had given many real life time examples and makes it easier to understand about the scenarios.” There are better plan for everyone even though it may not apparent at the time”, this is what told in this book.

What I liked most about this book was the ease and savoir-faire with which it was written. It was about nothing really, and that was what made it interesting. It kind of reminded me of Jerry Seinfeld's TV show about "nothing" inasmuch as it just went with the flow of life, joining in, loving it and laughing and learning through it. It was easy reading, easy enjoyment and easy acceptance of the vagaries of life. It helped me to not take life so seriously anymore, to shrug my shoulders more often, and to trust in God -- all good things. Relax with this book and never experience life the same again!

“Growth can be a detoxifying process, in which things need to come out, and looked at before they are released”. We will learn new thing when we start doing it, Start exploring it. When the self-growth is old with a real time examples and incident, we can connect it to our life and implement the plans. Because our life will not get better by chance, it gets better by change. So read this book and implement those changes.

Self Growth Through Self Esteem: Techniques

This book brings together Ron’s raw life experiences and the wisdom he earned through them.

Who Is the Author?

He’s not a CEO.
He’s not a therapist.
He’s not a professor.

He’s simply a man who had to figure out life the hard way—through messy, painful, and deeply human experiences.

No theories.
No complicated jargon.
No unnecessary fluff.

Just practical insights and techniques shaped by real life—the kind that truly work because they were born from genuine struggles.

With this second book in this series having to do with self-growth, Ron Millicent gives us yet another load of inspiring and wise quotes and vignettes that will surely help us boost our self-esteem and self-growth. Some of these quotes are as follows: 1. “The fact is that there is no real secret or formula to reach our dreams. The answer is within each of us. I have found that material wealth—although most regard that as the culmination of a successful life—is not really the answer.” 2. “I don’t regret the things I’ve done; I regret the things I didn’t do when I had the chance.” Unknown. 3. “…Looking back at my life there were many, many mistakes made…but the one thing that I was pretty good at was keeping the path clear. Heck I can even visualize a bulldozer going in to clear all the obstacles that do appear now and then.” Millicent gives us different scenarios involving various characters and he breaks each of them down by telling us his insights on how these characters handled their situations and explaining what they did right or wrong. Millicent taught me a term called “barricades” which he refers to those negative things that prevent us from receiving the potential experiences which are rightfully ours. Some of these so-called barricades include: A. You are too busy B. You are too discouraged C. You are too angry D. You are too tired and E. You are too something else. He goes on to say that in order to alleviate these, you have to imagine that you have a personal “bulldozer” that you need to activate to knock those barriers (listed above) down. Like the first book in this series by Millicent, there is a workbook towards the end of this ebook to help you reflect on the material that you have just read. It is very essential for our own understanding of this book because it recaps the main topics explained in each chapter and then asks us to provide our own understandings of these main topics. You can’t write in this workbook (duh!) but you can get a notebook of your own and jot down your answers to these questions in them. I recommend this great and awesome book (as well as the first book in this series) if you are in need of positivity and a soothing, relatable voice to help you with boosting your self-esteem. Have a great day!

Similar to Self Growth Part 1, the author delivers a handful of entertaining stories to get his life lessons across. Which in the case of this book, centered on recognizing gifts when they're presented to you. Even though, they often appear as challenges. The nice part is, Ron is an older gentleman; that's obviously lived through a lot. So he can speak from a place of experience, and shed light on the fact that good things happen to those who act. Whether that's taking challenges head on, getting out of your comfort zone, or driving a different different way to work, and looking for opportunity/adventure. I think other readers will find that this book has a lot to reflect on. And like me, they'll appreciate the author's storytelling delivery.

Didn't really teach me anything. Basic stuff.

Successfull habits: Life Experience

Forget the kind of affirmations you’d be too embarrassed to whisper to yourself in a public restroom.

This book focuses on the only real way to build confidence:

By doing the work.

Ron won’t tell you to “hug your inner child”—mostly because that little troublemaker probably caused half your problems in the first place.

Instead, he guides you through practical habits that build real competence.
And competence leads to confidence.
Confidence leads to freedom.

By the time you reach the end, you won’t just feel confident—you’ll actually be confident.

A humorous yet practical guide to genuinely improving your life.

Oh my goodness! For me, this is the best in Millicent’s Self-Esteem for Busy People series. Why if you ask? Well, while reading it this cold but sunny morning, all of the thoughts and quotes in here spoke to me on a personal level. First of all, it is a sort of a Quote-per-day for 30 days short book and these are some of Millicent’s expressions and wisdom I am eager to share with you so you can be helped with your personal dilemmas and for you to go buy this book now from Amazon online. 1. “Make yourself necessary to Someone.” Millicent explains that by this, we are always valuable to someone. That our existence always means something to a family member or a friend or even a stranger. That before we contemplate something as tragic as suicide, we must always remember that there are those who find growth in us. That we should know that “everything around us—all our experiences this day—guide our growth (and…others’ growths too.) 2. “I have learned silence from the talkative; tolerance from the intolerant and kindness from the unkind.” What I got from this is that we have to learn from the negative traits and experiences of others. Or even ourselves. Look at what those with these traits went through in order to learn from them to better and prepare ourselves for what trouble or tragedy is headed our way. 3. “Kindness to others repays us in kindness; respect to others repays us in returned respect. No person in the world ever attempted to wrong another without being injured in—return—some way.” I know this is not an original way of thinking but I’m including it here for you to recognize and relate to so you can feel a connection to Millicent’s book here. It’s a self-explanatory quote isn’t it? 4. “Happiness can’t protect us from everything—but it will keep us from doubling our woes when we have those inevitable ‘reverses’.” For me I found this thought to be true. Although happiness is not all serving, it does bar ourselves from getting into a lot of trouble and regret. It is wise to be happy because it comes with benefits to our health and well-being. I recommend this book to that friend of yours or even yourself if you’re going through some personal struggles and low self-esteem. This is the third installment in this self-growth series of Millicent’s. It is short and inspiring and packed with positivity I am sure will make you return to your ambitious, independent, and unbreakable self if you are currently depressed and feeling like your whole world has fallen apart. I, myself have learned some great and valuable tips from it for my own self-growth. I am seeing my faults for the first time and am willing and eager to move past them in order to live a happy and fulfilling life! His advice in here is comforting and inspiring. Get this one and the other three books in this series to get you back on your feet to go out and achieve, attain, and realize all of your dreams and goals! Yay!

This book is great, it's just a bunch of amazing quotes very powerful and organized in a way that is great to follow 1 every day for 30days. They say it takes about a month to build a habit and using this book really helps keep you on track!

The Journey to Self-Esteem

A unified four-book series guiding readers through:
  • reclaiming identity
  • building real confidence
  • developing habits that last
  • surviving life’s disruptions
  • emerging stronger, clearer, and more grounded
The three books are a romp through real life experiences by real people.

You may shed a tear, you may even chuckle out loud occasionally. Each vignette has a little pearl; a ‘pearl’ that will increase your awareness of life and ‘you’ personally.

Why take the Journey?

Self Esteem is not comparing you to anyone – it is an awareness that you are a special creation and uniquely equipped to do certain things. Those ‘things’ open doors .
And life will become richer and more satisfying. You won’t be left knocking on doors that will never open – because you are ‘not ready’
Go to: ‘My Books’ and begin your journey………

This is a story of a cancer journey from the perspective of a loving spouse. It is a journal of texts and notes by Ron Millicent (the author) as he witnesses the events that his non-curable cancer-stricken wife, Millie goes through while staying in the hospital for treatment. It is divided into four parts: 1. A Journey of Fear – tells the events as they occur. 2. A Follow up Months later – describes an unrelated incident that happened a few years prior to the cancer trip. 3. Rock Solid Philosophy of Life – is the “basis for the entire cancer ‘journey.’” 4. Reflections – is the tie-in of the entire odyssey. It sums up all of the four parts relaying a perspective and the story altogether. Throughout this book, Millicent constantly thanks his family and friends for their steady stream of love and support. He also adds in touches of humor to keep us his readers entertained and smiling as the journey itself isn’t a smooth ride. There is also an interesting tidbit of fact in this book where Millicent mentions that a friend of theirs, a woman named Marilyn gave them the infamous Lourdes water for their personal usage. As a Catholic, I felt quite tickled by this because I can confirm that this elixir is indeed a miracle performer for those who are sick and confined. The one aspect of this book that touched me deeply as a Christian and a Bible-lover is the parable of the servants who were given gifts by their Master before he went away for a while. The servants were each granted the freedom to use their gifts any which way they can. When the Master returns, these servants are to present to him what they did with their gifts. It’s just so assuring to know that Millicent backs up his thoughts and teachings with a Biblical story as this because it is in part an item of spirituality. It helps us the readers with our own self-growth and self-confidence goals. This is the last book of Millicent’s self-growth series and everything so far has been enlightening and brilliant. I recommend this book to the Christian who needs a new angle for his or her self-growth techniques. I think any person of any faith will find in Millicent’s wife’s fluctuating battle with cancer a sense of hope in knowing that we all are subjected to pain at some part of our lives but with the love and support of God or family and friends as well as a hardworking and warmhearted hospital staff (Millie was fortunate), we can get through it all or at least be comforted and at peace that we are in good, caring hands. And finally, this book should be made available to hospitals and clinics across the USA for patients and their families to be eased and/or inspired by. Praise the heavens!

Author Ron Millicent has published four books – each in his SELF ESTEEM FOR BUSY PEOLE series – DISCOVER HOW EASY IT IS, SELF GROWTH THROUGH SELF ESTEEM TECHNIQUES, EASY WAY TO USE INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES, now CANCER: IT CAN BE A LONELY JOURNEY. The books are very spiritually oriented with a strong emphasis on Christianity: Ron’s use of this adjunct works well, even if it asks the reader to re-orient thinking processes. The subject is how Ron deals with the discovery of his wife Millie’s cancer and the responses form the moment of diagnosis through the course of the disease and ten reflections. His writing style is conversational and never ‘preachy’. For example, he writes ‘A DEAL WITH GOD: In the darkest hours of dreaded uncertainty, I made a deal with God. I said, “God, if you take Millie you have to take me too. You see, we are a package deal. You can’t have her, without me. That’s the non-negotiable condition! Well, upon reflection I know that intellectually that didn’t make any sense at all. You can’t make demands of God. However, in my sleep deprived state, coupled with the highest anxiety I had ever known, it was an iron clad contract as far as I was concerned Emotionally, it was a rock solid deal I could see God sending a message to St. Peter, “Hey Pete, cancel the Millie project. There is a complication. Let her alone, and let her live” I was content with that outcome. I was at peace.’ The progress of the book and the responses to his wife’s incurable cancer include the importance of Support, Potential Experiences, the role of writing in a journal with updates Ron sent to family and friends about Millie’s progress, and Self Appraisal – questions to ask ourselves about how we are coping. ‘We begin to see that God has given us tremendous power in shaping our lives; power that is almost unimaginable - is ours to use.’ To emphasize the positive aspects of this book would be to miss the point. Ron says in closing, ‘When you have lived the good rich life that God intends for us – it makes the troubles we encounter – and we all encounter them – easier to bear. This was written for cancer patients and those who love them. If one person changes their attitude on life, and accepts – actually seeks – experiences that are waiting for us in different shapes and sizes and wrappings, and enjoys life a bit more, than this attempt at chronicling our experience will have been well worth it. In the time we have left, let’s resolve to live a good rich full life. It may lake us to destinations unknown to us now.’ This is a thoughtful, positive little book that is meant to be supportive to all people who either have cancer or are close to one who has the disease. It is written with love and compassion.

Cancer is such a fierce disease; it causes even the strongest to dread the thought of having it. There are different types with various survival rates, but all who went through the treatments deserve the respect of those around them. I loved the part from his email that said, “Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, But rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW – WHAT – A RIDE!” Ron finds writing as therapy for himself during the trying times of sitting in the hospital. It originally started as keeping the family and friends up to date on Millie’s progress; it ended up as a book to tell their story and encourage other walking down that path. But Ron also had time to reflect on his life and look at what he valued in life. He realized that lessons learned were only part of what shapes our lives, it is also the experiences we encounter.

I've known Ron for a few years. He has always been an interesting man and friend to me, yet I never understood the depth of the man till reading this book. Now a bunch of things came into focus. I didn't realize how often I open those gifts (read the book) and how very blessed my life has been as a result. Be prepared to be blessed as you read of this journey! Thanks Ron, very much.

About the Author Author Author

Have you ever been to a funeral, and wonder if you were in the right room? You know, where you go to pay your last respects to a good friend, and then the eulogy paints him/her to such a degree of almost saintliness, that you wonder: “I knew that John was an awfully good guy, but I didn’t know he was THAT good!”
The attributes mentioned were great, but you never saw them exhibited in all the years you knew him. It does seem that eulogies seem to paint a little different picture of the person we knew and loved.
Did you ever notice that? Well, the page entitled `Who is this Author` is somewhat similar. By the time you read the attributes, you don’t know whether to read the book – or kneel for a blessing.

About the book

A small handbook filled with real stories funny, reflective, and sometimes somber each one revealing a truth about who we are and how we’ve lost sight of ourselves.

What the Author Believes

We live in a confused age. We’re told from childhood that we’re perfect “just as we are,” while the world around us crumbles faith, family, and identity collapsing under modern noise.

This book rejects the empty-glitter version of self-love. No sugar highs. No participation-trophy psychology.

Just real stories that reconnect you with one simple idea:

Reclaim Yourself.

You’ll laugh. You’ll reflect. You’ll probably see yourself in these pages.

Self-Image is all-embracing — a concept as vast and varied as humanity itself. It defines who we are at our core, shaping the way we see ourselves and how we believe the world sees us.

No single approach can fully capture its depth. Even the most meaningful expression of the idea gains greater power when viewed through multiple perspectives. Each of these small masterpieces explores Self-Image from a unique angle, offering reflections that are thoughtful, sincere, and at times gently lighthearted.

Yet no single message can strike home for every personality, every persona, every lived experience. Self-Image is deeply personal — a living, breathing tapestry woven from our emotions, memories, beliefs, and aspirations. It is the fabric that gives color to our emotional world, vibrancy to our identity, and vitality to our sense of self.

One book may raise your consciousness; two books may raise it higher – all three books may hit you right in your heart.

Why Add the 4th Book?

The cover tells the story at a glance: a broken journey — a path interrupted, fractured, and uncertain — yet perhaps unfolding into something deeper and far more significant than originally imagined. What appears to be a detour may, in truth, be destiny reshaping itself.

Each of us walks a personal journey, guided by hope, purpose, and quiet expectation. And just as sincerely as we believe in that path, we must also accept that interruptions are inevitable. Some are minor — fleeting inconveniences that test our patience but leave our direction intact.

Others, however, arrive with shattering force — soul-wrenching moments that threaten to derail an entire life’s course and challenge everything we thought we understood.

This poignant narrative explores the most devastating interruption of all. Yet within its pages lies not only heartbreak, but profound strength and resilience. It offers courage to rise, wisdom to rebuild, and the inspiration to either reclaim the original path or embrace a new journey — one perhaps richer and more meaningful than the first.

An unforgettable and deeply inspirational read — one that will stay with you long after the final page is turned.
