Judson – Judsito
Well, my precious grandson, this is a life lesson for grandchildren and a small inspirational letter to a grandson that I hope will stay with you.
I gave this letter to your parents to give to you when they felt it was the right time. This is part of a legacy and life advice I hope will guide your journey.
It is 2024 at the time of this writing and you are in Japan and I am in Oregon. You are being called Judsito. This is part of a motivational family letter across distance and time.
I have no idea as to how old you are now, but the first thing I want to tell you is that you have marvelous parents. They have a great balance of love and an adventurous spirit.
They are truly unique.
They were overflowing with love and excitement when you arrived and that feeling was never diminished.
I am afraid I won’t be around when you are reading this, but I want you to know that I thought of you often – with great love.
I take the role of a great grandparent with awe, and a joyful responsibility.
Having lived a long time, there are some things – attitudes – that I want to pass on to you in the hope that they will prove to be of some value to you as you embark on your self improvement journey through life.
Here is an outlook that has shaped my life in many ways and perhaps it will have some influence on yours.
Here are some thoughts on a trait that does not seem to be as common as it should – but if you develop it – you will be led to some interesting destinations in life. This is truly about the importance of curiosity in life.
I am speaking of the trait of CURIOSITY, and developing curiosity in children and adults alike.
In my experience – I have found that curious people make the most enjoyable and interesting companions.
I was asked once what my favorite ‘thing’ was, and I responded -to be visiting with people I had never met previously – talking about a subject I knew nothing about, and in a place I probably shouldn’t be.
It seems that the people who feel compelled to find answers want to learn as much as possible about the people and world around them.
The curious person in my experience is an open minded individual who does not scoff at different attitudes, beliefs, or perceptions of others. Rather, they are eager to learn more about various subjects either unknown or previously discarded as unacceptable.
And so, Judson, the world is indeed a marvelous and mysterious place, and belongs to the curious who wander and wonder.
You are beginning an amazing journey of discovery and mysteries.
